About 30 yards from the end of my 2.48 mile run, I felt a drop of water on my hand. My first thought, “Jeez, I can’t be sweating this much.” Then another drop and I realized that the water wasn’t coming from me but the sky. I would love to say that it started pouring down rain after but it was more like a barely discernable trickle of rain that lasted all of 5 minutes maybe?
I did the run in 29:42, not a great time but good considering how I felt. My lungs just wouldn’t open up through out the whole run and it felt like my nose was stuffed up the whole time. I blame it on the changing of the seasons and my allergies being awakened.

Ran 1.94 miles in 20:48. The run felt really easy today, wasn’t gasping for breath, my lungs were open and I was running at a decent pace. Some days, it’s so easy and other days, it’s so hard. I was even running around most of the day helping setup at the new office so it wasn’t like I was really well rested.

I got the new ipod nano as a really early birthday gift from the wonderful girlfriend. I think she got sick of hearing me whining about wanting it. I’ve stopped myself from early adopting gadgets and it’s been a while since I’ve really wanted something but I really wanted this because it fit all the criteria. Small and flash based. I need to get an arm band for it or something. It’s so small and sleek that I almost dropped it after my run when I pulled it out of my pocket to turn it off.
Ran the 1.94 mile route in 22:08. I think I started off too fast today and didn’t let myself warm up. The run only felt okay, I’ve been feeling really tired this week, I think the residual effect from my weekend in vegas.

Ran about 2.42 miles tonight in about 29:02. About .6 miles into the run, the running just became easy.
My legs felt like they were floating, just chugging along, my breathing was at a steady cadence, I felt like I could go on forever.
My heart rate was still up there, averaging about 174, but it still felt easy. I wasn’t breaking any records on speed but I felt like I could have gone faster if I wanted to.
The amazing thing was that the rest of the run felt easy as well, easy enough that I sprinted up the little hill on my street. I wanted to get my heart rate up to see what it would max at. It’s hard to tell with the HRM I have especially in the dark while running but I saw it at 193 when I slowed down a little to take a look.
Sounds about right on what all the calculators have me pegged at. I’ll have to read up more on calculating maximum heart rates.

Just got back from a weekend in Vegas and immediately went for a run. Did the 1.94 miles route but I was slow today, it took me 23:40. I guess it’s not bad considering I only got 4 and a half hours of sleep last night and not much sleep at all the whole weekend.
I did notice that my heart rate was lower throughout this run, closer to 174 rather than the 180 I’ve been running at. I guess that would correlate to the slower time as well.
It felt really good to go for a run though after a weekend like this.

Same the 1.94 miles route again. Time, 21:38, about 1 1/2 minutes faster than before. Ran the whole way this time, didn’t stop to walk. Looking at my heart rate monitor, it looks like my heart likes to stay below 180, anything higher and I start gasping for air fast. 180 still seems kinda high, I’ll have to run a hill to see what my true max heart rate is.

Ran about 1.94 miles today in 23:04. Slow still but my endurance is getting back up to speed. My heartrate was a little lower today. Seemed to hover closer to 174 rather than the 181+ I was getting on my last run. I could definitely feel the difference, I wasn’t gasping for breath as much.
I also really liked this new route I ran, mainly flat and on small residential streets so I can run on the road.

Started running again today. Did my 1.5 mile route today in about 18:14. Taking 10 days off really took a toll on my endurance. My legs were feeling great but my lungs were hurting. I borrowed a heart rate monitor and my heart rate seemed to hover between 174 to 181 which seems really high. Either I’m running too fast or my max heart rate is just much higher than average.
I’ll have to keep track of it on my future runs.
I’m also stretching my hamstrings a lot more so hopefully the back injury will stay away.

I hurt my lower back last Thursday so I haven’t gone running since then. It felt a lot better yesterday so I tried going this morning but it’s still a little bit sore so I just went a short distance. Did about .6 miles in 7:27.
The good thing about me hurting my back is that I figured out what was doing it and how to prevent it in the future.
My back had been sore since last Thursday and it was slowly getting better but not fast enough. Then yesterday, I did some hamstring stretches and that helped tremendously. My hamstrings were so tight, they were pulling on my lower back and making it hurt. It was amazing how quickly I got results from a few easy stretches.
So in the future, hamstring stretch to take pressure off my lower back.
I also started to sleep on my side to take the pressue off my back, I had no idea that sleeping on your back is bad for you.

Ran just under 2 miles today, 1.92 to be more exact. Well, I stopped for the traffic lights but those were brief. My time, 20:56. Ran it at a pace of 10:54/mile. If I can keep a pace of under 11/mile for a 5k, I’ll be happy for now. I’m beginning to feel like a real runner, hah. Here’s the route I ran.
Running is feeling like more of a mental challenge now because at a certain point I just want to quit and start walking but I make myself run no matter how slow and after a while, it becomes just a motion and if I don’t think about it, I feel like I can keep going.
