Saint & Sinners

Having drinks and drawing at Saints & Sinners.

Treadmill running

Been running on the treadmill for almost 3 weeks now. Ran/walked 3 miles on Friday.
The first attempt at running last year, it took almost 2 months for me to get up to 3 miles.
It’s still embarrassing though when someone older with a gut gets on next to you and outruns you.
I figure I’m building on up so that when Jan 1st comes and all those people with new year resolutions to work out come into the gym, I won’t be quite as embarrassed.
I told someone the other day, I run so that I can keep eating what I want to eat. Fried chicken after a run, Yum!

Lunch

Club sandwich with a side of fruit salad.

Running

I’ve gone to the gym 3 times so far and as much as I hate to admit it, I like running on a treadmill. It lets me keep a constant pace, I don’t get cold and my eyes don’t dry out. It also removes all the excuses I used to have. The gym is right across the street from work, I can’t say that it’s too cold, or that I don’t want to run in the dark, etc.
It also makes it easy to run a defined time, I’ve been running 30 minutes and just seeing how far I go in that time. I’m not running very far yet but it’s better than the last time I started running.

Best Buy Sucks!

Went to Best Buy today to get a new CD player for the gf’s car, something that she can connect her ipod to.
We had a model in mind but the sales guy sold us on a different model that was slightly cheaper but had the same features. They advertise free installation on purchases over $99 and we were spending almost $200.
Paid for the purchases and went to the installation bay to get it installed.
Turns out, their free installation doesn’t include the removal of the old stereo, $20 and it didn’t cover the installation of the additional ipod hookup, another $50, plus other incidental materials.
So this free installation was going to cost $80 and they didn’t have a harness which meant I would have to drive to another Best Buy to buy it and bring it back.
I can understand the cost of incidentals, the extra harness, but $20 to remove the old stereo, how is that not part of the free installation? Plus another $50 to hook up the ipod connector? You plug in the connector and you run it to the front of the dash. Also, how is removing the old stereo not part of the installation cost?
I’ve installed many car stereos before and that’s just ridiculous.
This wasn’t a custom setup, the guy tried telling me they had to secure it in the back and hook it up. Like plugging in a wire is securing it?
On top of that, he was rude. The installation guy is giving me attitude like I owe him a favor.
So I returned the radio and Best Buy Sucks!

Lunch at Apple Pan

It’s the red sauce that really makes the burgers good. Ask for the fries well done. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Yum!

Gym

I did something I never thought I would do. I joined a gym last Thursday.
I went tonight for the first time and ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes.
It’s still a little bit surreal for me, it feels weird running in one place and watching all these other people using machines to work out. It doesn’t quite feel right but if it helps me keep on running, oh well.
It was also took a minute to get used to the treadmill and getting off of it. I’ve never ran on a treadmill before and after 30 minutes on it, I stepped off and the room felt like it was still moving. Treadmill vertigo I guess.
