Beautiful day today, I was reluctant to do anything because I’m always lazy but I’m always glad to have gone out at the end of the day. Something about inertia and an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion..
Went hiking in Griffith Park. The sky was gorgeous.
Some pre trip pictures before we left.

Had dinner out tonight and when I went to the bathroom, what do I see? Duct tape covering up the top of the toilet, the part you remove to get to the flush mechanism. It looked like someone had cracked the thing in half with a big chunk missing and they had just duct taped the thing back together.
What the hell happened to that thing. Was there a fight in the bathroom and someone’s head got smashed into it. Why are bathrooms always so beat up? I for one have never gone into a rage in the bathroom and start tearing stuff apart, yet I see a lot of public bathrooms with hinges that are barely hanging on, cracked toilet bowls, etc. Is there a secret fight club that goes on in bathrooms that I’ve never known about?
And why is it so difficult for these places to fix their bathrooms. Someone broke the toilet bowl, maybe instead of duct taping the whole thing, why not go and buy a new one? Are these places just cheap?
This crappy bathroom and accompanying repair job phenomenon is not relegated to just cheap crappy restaurants either. I see this at all kinds of places. Maybe they should do an investigative report on it.

The car has been ordered. I’m really excited but really nervous about it at the same time.
The bad news is that it won’t be here till May, leaving me with 4 months to really get excited about it. I don’t think it’ll quite sink in until I actually drive the car off the lot.

This is the question. Went to the LA Auto Show yesterday. The new Porsche Cayman is a beautiful car. It has a unique shape that I’m sure a lot of people either love or hate.
I think it’s unique, doesn’t look like anything else out there.

Since I posted about my new camera, I’ll post about my first digital camera which was also my last digital camera. It was a Canon S110. Got it back in 2001 I believe for $420. It was a 2.1mp camera, great at that time. I still have it but unfortunately, some punk* in Oakland dropped it onto a concrete floor while trying to take a group picture. It was an accident so I can’t fault him too badly. The camera still works but the zoom lever only zooms in which means if I want to zoom out, I have to turn the camera off and turn it back on again.
It was a great camera, I definitely put it to good use and made my money worth.
But 4-5 years in digital camera time is light years.
I paid $280 for my new camera, 5mp, huge screen, great battery life, image stabilization built in, movie mode that is just fantastic, etc.
I’ll end the post with one of my favorite pictures taken with my old camera.

*He was literally a punk.

Been lazy about the running. Cold weather plus holiday madness equals lazy and unmotivated me.
I really need to start up again.
I got a new camera yesterday, Panasonic Lumix FX8. Hopefully it’ll inspire me to take more pictures.
I have an itch to learn something new and I think I would like to learn how to fly. Sounds like it would be something fun to do. I need to look into it more. Preliminary findings look to be around 6 months and $4-5k dollars.
I also want to go to Yosemite this summer. I remember going there as a kid and not appreciating it as much as I should have as kids tend to be like that. I do remember eating at this little restaurant at the back of a store/supermarket that had the best fried chicken I’ve ever had.
Hiking, looking at waterfalls and just plain relaxing sounds like fun to me. I must be getting old.
