Morning Run

I really wanted to go running last night but my calf was feeling a little sore like I pulled it a little bit so I decided to take the night off and see how I felt this morning.
I woke up this morning with my calf feeling great and still itching to go for a run. If you knew me, that would be amazing because I’m very much a night owl. So I woke up a little earlier than usual today and went for a run.
I did about a mile today in 10:50 and I didn’t stop to walk until the 6:30 minute mark after I’ve gone about .6 of a mile.
The run this morning felt good. I normally feel weighed down when I run at night because I tend to eat a late dinner. Even though it’s against my nocturnal habits, I might try to start running in the morning.

New Shoes

I bought some proper running shoes yesterday and went for my first run in them tonight.
I got a pair of Fila Flow Sanctuary per the recommendation of the expert at the running store after watching me walk and studying my bio mechanics. I learned that I have medium arches that flex and I’m a pronator.
I ran about 1.25 miles today in about 15 minutes. About the same speed as the last time but for a little longer distance.
I did notice that I could run for a longer duration, about 4 minutes, in my first segment before I had to start walking to catch my breath. The last time I ran, I stopped at about 2 1/2 minutes.
The shoes felt great, the biggest difference I noticed is that my feet aren’t as tender as they were after running in the old shoes.

I suck at blogging.

I suck at blogging. So I’m going to try something new.
I started running this week to lose some weight and to keep in shape so I’m going to try and keep a log of that on here.
On Monday, I walked about 1.1 miles about 25 mins. Just walking, just making myself get out of the house.
Today, I walked/ran about .9 miles in about 12 mins. About half of that was walking.
I’m hoping to make this a regular thing, my goal is to do a total of about 10 miles a week over 3-4 days.
It actually felt really good to be out there breathing hard, breaking a sweat.
Actually, the aftermath feels really good but when you’re out there running, it’s painful.
I’m hoping that the memory of the aftermath is always more powerful than the memory of actual running the next time I need to motivate myself to go for a run.
