I’ve been using a computer for about 20 years now and I have never spilled any liquid on a keyboard until a few days ago when I spilled about a quarter of a Frappuccino onto my keyboard. It was fine for the rest of that day and I thought I was going to be fine but when I woke up the next morning, a couple of keys were sticking.
I’m quite particular about the keyboards I use. Some people like the click clack of the older keyboards, others like the natural keyboards that are split down the middle. Dell quietkeys have been my favorite for a while now. We have quite a few extra ones at work so I snagged one and all is good in my keyboard world. But now, I have two keyboards, the sticky one and the good one. There are only about 5 keys that stick on the sticky keyboard, and it seemed like a waste to throw out an otherwise perfectly good keyboard. I’m still not quite sure what to do with it but in the meantime, I stole the A off the sticky keyboard and rearranged some keys on the good keyboard and spelled my name on it. I’ve always wanted to do this.

You’re just trying to screw me over so I can’t use your computer — but I will defeat you by learning to touch type.

OMG… I totally agree, Dell Quietkeys are the best, I miss mine so much (powerbook user now).. They way the keys feel between ur fingers, the perfect elevation, the soft subtle give from the keys, and the faint sound… ahh just brings back so many memories…

Shower with your keyboard.
What the heck is a Frappuccino?

John is right, unhook your keyboard and wash it thoroughly with hot water (125 f). This will disolve the sugars that are causing you sticky keys. Shake out the water then stand up on end (on a towel) for a day or two so it can dry.
Don’t plug it in while it is still wet.
After this It should be as good as new.
